
Situated between Turkey, Iraq, Lebanon and the Mediterranean, Syria is an Arabian country - which typically relies on oil for it's primary source of income.
There are however a number of issues regarding importing and exporting goods in Syria. This is mostly due to Syria excluding itself from standardised trade laws in the 1950's - it is also not a member of the World Trade Organisation. As such trying to import or export goods in to the country can be a very expensive or troublesome affair.
Fortunately however, for general small scale imports - such as sending small numbers of goods via courier, these problems are limited. It is however always worth while to check in advance.
